SIGNATURE STAMP

Signature stamp for PDFs

A rubber signature stamp needs paper. A digital signature stamp is your own handwritten signature, saved once at its real size and stamped on every PDF that needs it.

What a signature stamp is

A signature stamp reproduces your handwritten signature, so you can sign the tenth invoice of the day the same way you signed the first. The rubber kind is made from a scan of your signature and pressed onto paper. A digital signature stamp does the same on a PDF: it is the image of your signature, kept at the width it has on paper, placed on the page and exported with the document.

Stamp Document keeps signature stamps and company stamps in the same list, so the two go on the same page in one pass.

Step 1 — Make your signature stamp

Sign a sheet of white paper and photograph it, or skip the paper: when the app asks whether your signature is ready as an image, choose No — use my phone, scan the code, and either take the photo or choose Draw your signature and sign with your finger. The paper is cut away as the image is read, so the signature lands on the PDF as ink, not as a white box.

Step 2 — Save it at its real size

Name the stamp, check its Real size on paper, and click Save stamp. A handwritten signature is usually 40 to 60 mm wide. The size is kept on every PDF, so your signature never comes out twice as large on one document and half as large on the next.

Step 3 — Stamp and sign the PDF

Open the PDF and drag the signature stamp onto the signature line. Need a company stamp and a signature? Drag both: the stamp beside the line and the signature across it, the way they would sit on paper. Move, turn, resize or duplicate them, or use Apply to next pages for a document that is signed on every page. Then click Save As… for a stamped copy; the original PDF stays untouched.

Is a signature stamp an electronic signature?

It is the image of your handwritten signature, the digital equivalent of the rubber stamp. It carries no certificate and needs no signing ceremony. That is what most invoices, delivery notes, letters and internal approvals ask for. When a recipient asks for a certified electronic signature instead, use the service they name.
